The one I bought is the last two pictures of the tiny snake BUT the first two are what she will look like when she gets older. She is a female blue-eyed Leucistic Texas Rat Snake. I’ve had snakes all my life but foster agencies have a pretty strict rule on animals so I haven’t had them since about 3 years ago. This work from home made it easy to have one screen on YouTube while the other is work related. I fell down a hole, really wanted another boa. Checked the DFPS standards and policy’s and it states no heavy bodies (constrictors) or venomous snakes. Only garden snakes or rat snakes. Now I’m assume if garden meant garter snake but I’ve had those growing up and they have the worst smelling musk out of any snake I’ve owned. So options were rat snake or corn snake (member of the rat snake family) even though they t echnically eat by constriction. She should arrive tomorrow and I can’t wait because our youngest LOVES the snakes at the zoo/petsmart/aquarium.

Very cool. Looks like I’ll have my classroom ball python for quite a while, as we aren’t going back to school until next year.
I always assumed garden snake referred to any small, non- venomous snake. Caught a good looking ground snake last week and dropped it in my garden. Now it is a garden snake.

True but if we lived in Florida I could call a Burmese python a garden snake.
Ball pythons are a great classroom pet, so chill. Not a bad companion while stuck at home.

I don’t know if I’d consider a B urmese python small. They’re pretty big boys.
He’s very chill. I have students with anxiety issues, and they hold him during class as a calming technique. My kids are loving the new pet.

Neato. Keep us updated. I have always had a casual appreciation/interest in pet snakes.
Can't imagine why.

Casual Appreciation, I like that, I think that is how I would describe my wife toward this purchase. But she also said “Why now during this pandemic?” my answer was “Why not?”.... she stared...

It’s an inexpensive pet. I always wanted one when I was a kid. I am always reminded of this article though:

Haha that’s a pretty good article but the writer has never had a full body snake hug. Wait, that sounds like it should be on that list...

Nobody likes hugs more than snakes
